Top 10 stand upI found myself watching a classic Channel 4 top 100 list last night (as virgin media doesnt have sky one, bastards)
Anyway I though the list was all well and good but Billy Connolly would not be my personal number one but I can see why he made the number one spot nationally.
This is my top ten (in no real order)
Harry Hill
Chris Rock
Bill Hicks
Lee Evans
Peter Kay
Ross Noble
Adam Hills (don't think he made the top 100, highly underrated)
Dave Gorman
Jasper Carrott
Eddie Izzard

That show was stupid, as soon as they passed the watershed all the crap ones came out, I didn't realise there were so many shitty racist comedians like that Dice Man, it would be terrifying being at one of his shows, he looked like a complete prick
But my top ten in no real order is:
-Bill Bailey- Funniest troll on stage
-Lee Evans- Gone a bit camp now but still hilarious
-Ross Noble- I have got to book those tickets
-Tommy Cooper- Changed fezes forever
-Dave Gorman- Puts on a good show
-Peter Kay- Gives everyone a perfect idea of what it's like being a northern kid
-Lee Mack- Does he have any DVDs out?
-Jack Dee- Grumpy bastard
-Mitch Benn- Does songs that are actually funny
-Some other guy whose name I can never remember but is always on the Comedy Store, that's how underrated he is

andrew dice is the worst comedian ever, its not even stand up, its just nursery rhymes kids have messed with while in school, and Eddie Murphy shocked and appauled me, a typical 80's black comedian with "difference between white guys and niggers" jokes that just got famous in the 90's for being in a few movies. Really don't rate his stand up, even as a fellow african american I don't find him funny. Bernard Manning had a very valid point, he was a shit racist comedian but still today is the only British Comedian who had a show in Las Vegas and owns one of the most famous comedy clubs in the world, even though he is shit.
Jack Dee is also very good.

I hated the way on that show, when they were talking about the crap ones like Alexei Sayle and stuff, they kept going on about 'breaking boundaries' and 'aggressiveness' but what's the point of all that when you realise at the end of it that you're not actually laughing?
But on the plus side that show made me want to buy a lot of stand-up DVDs

Wondeful wonderful youtube
It was funny on that show the way they made anything sound like a compliment, here are some examples:
"He's famous for his long rambling anecdotes"- Just get on with it!
"The hilarious foul mouthed comedian"- If your whole act consists of how rude you can talk, you're a gimp, Chris Rock swears a lot but he has jokes and is a genius
"Went off on tangents"- If your tangents are not funny, you're a dick
Now back to youtube

I saw Daniel Kitson in the Everyman tonight whilst working there. he was doing his standup and was very funny!!!
you may recognise him from Phoenix Nights

I read about him in the Metro yesterday. It said he's famous for bizarre and almost obnoxious material, it didn't make him sound like a comedian at all. Silly Metro
