If you think of original covers ( u know wot i mean!) ones that have never been done before that would be great! doesnt matter if they have though!

Nah, its gotta be Idioteque all you need to buy if an analogue synthesiser you can get a cheap one for around £3000.
Alternativly if you don't want to pay that amount of money(or don't want to have to dance round on stage like Thom Yorke) Should i stay or should i go by The Clash would be a good song for you to cover.

Yer get the rs200 and the rs8000 best £4000 you'll ever spend - there's even a picture of god himself (jonny greenwood) using them both on the website.
On a more serious note (hahahha note and we're talking about music... nevermind ) I would enjoy a few bars of "Follow Me Around" before the hustle...

i think you could do a mean version of johnny b good

I'd love to see you tackle a Beatles song, although obviously not a really famous one. "Back In The USSR" or something. And your whole use of backing vocals on a lot of songs would suit "Damaged Goods" by Gang Of Four down to the ground.
|
James
|
I know I've mentioned this but: Sweet Dreams; although it has been covered - still pretty original, and you guys can put your own style on; which potentially could sound fantastic
|
Gibbo
|
You'd need a sexy female vocal though to make it work.
"Brand New Cadillac" by The Clash - a really underrated Clash song!
|
James
|
would'nt really - marylin manson did it in a real goth way, although not the style that major major should do it in!
James Blunt covers, noone has done them....maybe for a good reason!

How about Turnin' Japanese by The Vapors?
I'm not sure how well you would do it but I can guarantee that it would be the most hilarious thing I've ever seen

Made of Stone by the Stone Roses would be good

Yeah some of their relatively unknown stuff sounds just like their hits but when they do get a hit, it becomes a classic. You Really Got Me, Lola, Waterloo Sunset, Days, Dedicated Follower of Fashion and Sunny Afternoon are all excellent and would all definitely be somewhere in my top 100 songs
|
Gibbo
|
I did wonder what the Buzzcocks would be like reformed. I wish I'd been able to see them. If they were shit I wouldn't be surprised - the only decent reunion recently has been Pixies; Dinosaur Jr. and Gang Of Four were apparently shitty. Plus Cream are old and useless now.

Please don't mock Cream. It huts the heartstrings. However; Dinosaur Jr. were absolute shit at Leeds: the worst band I saw all weekend; how they've survived as a band, I have no idea.

No offence to Liam, but I think you should do an acoustic version of a popular song, or even one of yours; that would be good

He could play the tamborine, or dance around like Bez, hahahaha.
I think you would do a good job of "Love Machine" then maybe you could meet Girls Aloud and they'd all be my friends.

I know some of the band are fans of The Clash so I say do "Guns Of Brixton" - the live version (on Live: From Here To Eternity) is very different from the studio version and is fucking awesome.

I was very impressed with the two cover songs performed last night at Kit's house (Make Me Smile and Town Called Malice). They were expertly done and were a perfect choice. Maybe it was the drink, or maybe the raw potato I ate for no reason or maybe I just enjoyed them because they were just done so darn brilliantly, well done

Isn't that the worst song of Morrissey's new album of godawful crap?*
*may be some bias there

Nah, the morrissey song is The Last Of The Famous International Playboys which I haven't heard but I have heard of so I don't think its on his most recent album!
|

Oh then it must be the Dirty Pretty Things one. Must have been influenced by Morrissey though

Everybody's got something to hide (except me and my monkey)- The Beatles
I think we talked about this ages ago but you should definitely do a cover of it, it's perfect
High notes to prove Conor is a castrato? Check
Not as well known as other Beatles songs making it good cover material? Check
Cowbell? Check
Bit where music stops and you sing 'come on come on' repetitively in a quirky Major Major type way? Check
Strange legal loophole entitling me to royalties? Check
It's perfect
