The first act has been confirmed for next year's Glastonbury Festival which runs for five full days from Wednesday 24th June until Sunday 28 June 2009 across a 1,000 acres of beautiful countryside at Worthy Farm, Somerset.
The winner of the finals of the Rockstar unsigned competition, backed by the Glastonbury Festival organiser Michael Eavis, was decided on Friday 5th September. The winners were announced as Liverpool based Major Major who have won themselves a chance to play a live set at next year's Glastonbury Festival.
Major Major were the last of the six finalists in the competition to take to the stage. They were very well received by the crowd and soon after their performance they were crowned the competition winners.
As winners of the competition they will also play a live set at the Pilton Equinox Party on Friday 19th September, and have a two week recording session in Peter Gabriel's Real World Studios.
